I'm going to try to keep it short, but with some variety. For alacrity, I'm restricting myself to modern PC games. Here is it, no means exhaustive:
- For multiplay, ThreadSpace: Hyperbol
- I loved the visual imagery in Mirror's Edge, but I'd rather they'd have just cut a lot of the story out
- On the other hand, I think BioShock's story is key to the game -- I'd call it more of an interactive movie if the gameplay wasn't equally as brilliant
- Braid deserves a mention for really turning the platform/puzzle genre on it's head. I spent a block of several hours solidly playing this through from start to finish and was enthralled by the story and the challenge of the puzzles. It's been said before, but the last level was pure genius
